To celebrate International Women's Day, we thought we'd bring you something different and present you with a post about females in pop punk because unfortunately only a handful exist compared to the number of males. Not that the males aren't doing a good job (they definitely are) but with so much potential talent out there, it's a shame that there aren't more female guitarists, vocalists, bassists and drummers within pop punk. However, although only few exist, the ones that do are quite incredible and have created some brilliant music. Check out some examples below, some are well know and some are not, but be sure to have a listen to their music.
1.Singer/guitarist Mariel Loveland from Candy Hearts. Read her article about sexism in the music industry here.
2.Drummer Brittany Harrell from Veara
3.Singer/ guitarist Maura Ryan from Mixtapes
4. Guitarist/ Vocalist Laura Nichols from HeartSounds
5. Vocalist Georgia Peters from Next Stop Atlanta
6. Ashley (vocals) and Brittany ( Drums) from Smalls
7. Tay Jardine from We are the In Crowd
8. Vocals Jenna McDougall from Tonight Alive
